心理学分野におけるコアジャーナルの変遷The chronological analysis of core journals in psychology

The purpose of this paper is to survey core journals in psychology from the beginning of the field to 1985. Core journals are selected on the basis of frequency of citation in Psychological Review and Psychological Bulletin in 1905, 1925, 1945, 1965, 1985. These core journals are classified with the Dewey Decimal Classification codes in Ulrich’s International Periodicals Directory.

Main findings are as follows:

  1. (1) each journal has been ranked differently in all the years, but four major types of ranking pattern are identified,
  2. (2) percentages of psychology journals (DDC 150-159) in the total core journals are increasing along the development of the field, and
  3. (3) research trends in the field affect core journals in each year.
