Library and Information Science

The author visited a good number of library schools in the United States of America and the United Kingdom as his own spontaneous programme during his sabbatical leave for a whole year from August 1971 to July 1972. In the U.K. he included in his visits the Library Association, Library Schools at Polytechnic of North London, London University College, Ealing Technical College, Birmingham Polytechnic and College of Librarianship Wales, Aberystwyth besides a number of public libraries, school libraries, college libraries, education authorities, etc.

In this report he summerised facts about education for librarianship in the U.K. during the last 20 years in various aspects such as social background, development of education for librarianship, function of L.A., kinds of library schools, courses, curricula, teaching methods, teaching staffs, researches and students. Also he added his commentary to each topic and impression as a whole.
