In this era of technological changes, information services are gaining importance in industrial organizations, since innovation efforts must to a large degree depend upon information resources.
Some characteristics of information services in industrial organizations are; (1) adaptability to organizational objectives and needs, (2) emphasis on efficiency and rationality, (3) internally oriented attitude, (4) needs for a close contact with operational segments of the organization, and (5) exceeding specificity of information covered.
A number of problems arising from such particular circumstances are discussed and some remedial actions are suggested in the present paper.
