This article was originally submitted to Japan Library School as a report of the summer practice work at Yokohama American Cultural Center in 1962. In the first section, the reporter outlines the history, objectives and organization of American Cultural Centers in Japan. Then the reporter portrays Yokohama American Cultural Center; its relation with the community, its organization, library materials and services. In the second section, the reporter descrives the historical changes in the fundamental policies of the United States' overseas information service and their influence on the library activities at American Cultural Centers. Finally the reporter points out the current problems of American Cultural Centers and suggest some possible solutions.
